Title: Land of the Midnight Sun
Year: 2020
Size: 810mm × 600mm (P25)
Media: Oil on canvas
Description:
Alaska has more than 34,000 miles of coastline, more than the rest of the USA combined. What a wonderful stage, for an incommensurable summer pageant.
Nearly one-third of Alaska lies above the Arctic Circle enjoying endless daylight hours in the summer, albeit total darkness in mid-winter.
When the sun rises in May it doesn’t set for nearly three months……
It is as if a curtain lifts on a wonderful spectacle of nature, untouched and preserved for those privileged few to come and admire – to appreciate the subtle hues of ever-changing sunlight, casting gentle rays on a myriad of topographical wonders, to listen to the sound of lapping waves, and to breathe the cool, fresh air redolent of the riches of the sea.
